The Downtown Hickory Farmer's Market will be reopening for the season on April 18th, 2009. The market is located in the parking lot of the Hickory Train Station and the hours of operation are from 7:00 AM - 1:00 PM. The local Farmer's Market is one of my favorite places to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday morning when I can work it into my schedule. This market has a bit of something for everyone with fresh fruits and vegetables, homemade cakes and bread, fresh cut flowers, etc. A great local vendor I met last year was the owner of Oh My Soap. Oh My Soap is located in Newton, NC and they make wonderful handmade soaps, lotions, linen water, lip balm, and a variety of other products. My two favorite soaps from them are the apple/lavender which reminds me of a warm spring day and softly which is a delicate floral blend. Ray adores the brown moutain & white pine soaps.
Just thinking about the market sends visons of fried apple pies, fresh strawberries, and freshly cut flower arrangements through my head. I can hardly wait! For additional information and special events visit the Hickory Farmer's Market Website.
